The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management


The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management (KNSM) is one the largest academic department at Texas A&M University, generating over 90,000 credit hours and 200,000 (modified) weighted student credit hours each year.

As one of four departments in the School of Education and Human Development, KNSM is currently home to over 3,000 undergraduate students, 246 master’s students, 70 doctoral students (3,921 total), 179 minor students, 103 faculty members, 32 staff members and 90 funded graduate assistants.

Divisions of Kinesiology & Sport Management

The department is comprised of three divisions: KinesiologySport Management and the Physical Education Activity Program. Each division offers various degrees and outreach programs promoting continuing education for students and the community.

Kourtney Martin


During her time as a Group Fitness Instructor at Texas A&M Rec Sports, she was presented with the opportunity to instruct WELLNESS WORKS! fitness sessions to faculty and staff at Texas A&M. She went on to complete her graduate internship with WELLNESS WORKS! before being named Employee Wellness Coordinator in 2017.

M.S. in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Motor Neuroscience

The Master of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Motor Neuroscience, prepares students for teaching and research careers in motor behavior.

M.S. in Athletic Training

The MSAT program is for students who wish to pursue athletic training credentials by the Board of Certification (BOC) and pursue a career as a Certified Athletic Trainer

M.S. in Sport Management

Provides students the skill sets necessary to become future leaders of sport organizations as managers, administrators, and decision makers. (Online or Face-to-face)

M.S. in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Sports Physiology

Provides students with the scientific background and technical skills necessary to evaluate performance-related characteristics of both team and individual athletes, and design strength and conditioning programs.

M.S. in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Clinical Exercise Physiology

Provides students with the scientific background and technical skills necessary to evaluate physical fitness and cardiovascular disease risk and prescribe preventative and rehabilitative strategies.

M.S. in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Sport Pedagogy

This specialization prepares students to design and conduct research on teaching/teacher education and curriculum and instruction, with an emphasis on linking theory to physical education practice.

M.S. in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Exercise Physiology

The Master of Science in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology, provides advanced training in the physiological responses to acute exercise and the adaptations that occur with training.

West Point Faculty Development

This academic program is only for commissioned officers currently serving in the United States Army and approved by West Point Officials. Earn a M.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology.

Ph.D. in Kinesiology, emphasis in Motor Neuroscience

Motor Neurosciences prepares students for teaching and research careers in motor behavior. Laboratories support the motor behavior programs with emphases in Motor Control, Motor Learning and Child Movement.

Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Sport Management

Ph.D. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Management, faculty and students study sport management in ways that impact individuals, organizations and communities both locally and globally.

Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Sport Pedagogy

The Ph.D. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Pedagogy prepares students for teaching and research positions in universities as well as leadership positions in state or regional departments of education.

Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Emphasis in Exercise Physiology

The Ph.D. in Kinesiology program prepares students to conduct research in basic and applied exercise physiology. Graduates are trained for post-doctoral appointments and positions in universities, industry, the military and research institutes.
